Congregation leaders and clergy wished to strengthen the bond between them in the sanctuary as well as renovate the structure built in 1980. The Bimah, from which services are led, was originally raised five feet above the sanctuary floor. Infill was added to eliminate the disparate levels. Four golden metal slats bordering the sides of the Torah ark were replaced by travertine stone and wood to embrace the existing sculptured brass doors of the ark and eternal light. A new ceiling provided improved lighting and a more efficient air-conditioning system.
