City officials, community leaders, and project partners celebrated the groundbreaking recently for the much-anticipated Deerfield Beach Center for Active Aging and the adjacent Center for Child Care. The strategically planned campus of the side-by-side centers creates a portal for intergenerational programming and events to enrich the lives and interrelations across the age spectrum.

Scheduled for completion in 2022, the Center for Active Aging will provide eco-friendly, state-of-the-art spaces designed for community activities and social engagement, physical fitness, social services and care management, special needs accommodations, and creative and cultural endeavors. Replacing a decades-old scattering of outbuildings, the modern 19,979 SF central Active Aging structure, tropically landscaped site, and expanded parking areas are intended to accommodate greater access for county-wide outreach, with transportation ease for incoming buses, vans, and cars, and unity of purpose to the greater community.

Additionally, the new 2,443 SF Center for Child Care on the shared campus will offer daycare and pre-K programs that will give a head start to children and enable their parents and other family caregivers to pursue educational, employment, and other individual goals.
