Weston Racquet Club Receives USTA Outstanding Facility Award; Celebrates Grand Reopening and Expansion with Ribbon-Cutting

Weston Racquet Club VIPs

Weston Racquet Club received the U.S. Tennis Association’s Facility Award for Large Private Facilities (12 or more courts). Formerly named Weston Tennis Center when designed two decades ago by SRS, the facility was renamed Weston Racquet Club when it expanded to include two additional court-based sports: pickleball and padel, which is the fastest-growing racquet sport played extensively throughout Spain and Latin America.

The award follows the grand reopening of the expanded and renovated complex, shepherded once again by SRS for new generations of play.

Improvements and modernizations include the pro shop, outdoor patio, restrooms, and 16 tennis courts plus the new addition of four pickleball and two glass-enclosed padel courts, and all new LED Sport Lighting for each and every court. Weston Racquet Club features 15 hydro-clay and one championship hard court and is a highly popular South Florida center known for adult and junior teams, competitions, championships, and tennis pro-staffed lessons.

Celebrating the occasion were Mayor Margaret Brown; Commissioners Byron L. Jaffe, Mary Molina-Macfie, Chris Eddy, and Henry Mead; City Manager Don Decker, Assistant City Manager Karl Thompson, City Engineer Reddy Chitepu, and Director of Landscaping Thad Bielecki; as well as Contractor Benny Bejar from Bejar Construction; Albert Fernandez from the Cliff Drysdale organization, operator of the Club; and Merrill Romanik, SRS principal.
